MAJ Daniel Baller is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences and the Director for the Center for Data Analysis and Statistics (CDAS) at the United States Military Academy, West Point, New York. A 2008 West Point graduate, MAJ Baller was commissioned as a Military Intelligence officer and served in a variety of positions in Texas, Iraq, and Korea. He transitioned to Functional Area 49 (Operations Research Analyst) in 2019. MAJ Baller holds a Master of Operations Research from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He has taught Mathematical Modeling and Intro to Calculus, Probability and Statistics, Applied Statistics, and is currently teaching Sabermetrics. Research interests include natural language processing, sports analytics, predictive modeling and machine learning, and increasing transparancy in research.
