This session highlights the “Connected Communities Guidebook,” an initiative led by the New York City Department of City Planning and NYCHA that advocates inclusive design, urban connectivity, and open spaces to benefit health and wellbeing. Audiences will learn how to capture economic value, prevent, or mitigate displacement, and build resilient communities.

Learning Outcomes:

Understand the importance of inclusive process and adaptable design strategy to preserve and reassert the value of urban open space and authentic and equitable transformation.
Understand how to build community stewardship.
Understand how to utilize open space to provide accessible recreation and connections to nature to promote healthy, resilient communities
