Bob Powell, Pharm.D. is a clinical pharmacologist working on precision drug dosing research as an adjunct professor at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill College of pharmacy. His career research theme is in developing and implementing drug dosing schemes designed to improve the efficacy/safety opportunity for new and old drugs based on the indication and individual patient characteristics. Following his training in clinical pharmacy (WVU, PCP&S) he completed a NIH postdoctoral fellowship in pharmacokinetics (UCSF). He has worked 20 years in academia, 17 years in pharmaceutical development (Glaxo, Parke Davis, Roche) and 6 years at FDA resulting in over 100 peer-reviewed publications. His current focus is in more precise drug dosing for patients not well represented in phase 3 clinical trials.
