Session Description

Join this special rerun of the Translational & Precision Medicine (TPM) Network Meeting content and take advantage of a new opportunity to participate in live chat and live Q&A with the panelists! ASCPT@night is ideal for attendees joining from Asia Pacific, working parents helping kids with virtual learning during the day, and anyone seeking alternative learning times.

This session will begin with a short overview and acknowledgement of TPM activities in the past year. We will then introduce the scientific topic (Precision Medicine) and speakers. Bob Powell, PharmD, will start the session by exploring several factors that should be considered in creating a process that will provide more effective, safe, and timely drug dosing recommendations for most, if not all, patients. Lingxin Zhang, PhD, who was recognized as an ASCPT Presidential Trainee in 2020, will elaborate on her work at the Mayo Clinic on applied deep mutational scanning (DMS) to functionally characterize ORF missense variants in known pharmacogenes such as CYP2C9 and CYP2C19. In the setting of the COVID-19 pandemic, she recently “pivoted” to apply these new approaches to human genes encoding ACE2 and TMPRSS2. The end of the session will be devoted to live Q&A where all the speakers and TPM leadership will be available to answer questions from the attendees.
