Caitrin W. McDonough, PhD, MS is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacotherapy and Translational Research at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy. She earned her PhD from Wake Forest University in Molecular Medicine and Translational Science, completed her postdoc at the University of Florida, and has completed a Master's Degree in Biomedical Informatics at the University of Florida. She has a strong multidisciplinary background in human genetics, pharmacogenomics, and biomedical informatics. Her research has focused on the genetics of type 2 diabetic end stage renal disease in African Americans, cardiovascular pharmacogenomics, and utilizing electronic health record (EHR) based data to assist understanding and identification of factors underlying cardiovascular disease risk and drug response. Her current research centers on utilizing electronic health records, claims data, and ‘omic based data to study resistant hypertension. She also has an interest in antihypertensive and cardiovascular pharmacogenomics. She is currently support through a career development award, K01, from the NHLBI.
