Associate Director, Clinical Pharmacology

Dr. Hazem E Hassan is an Associate Director of Clinical Pharmacology at Regeneron and an Affiliate Faculty at University of Maryland School of Pharmacy (UMSOP). He is a Clinical Pharmacology lead on several drug development programs in infectious diseases, neuroscience, hematology and ophthalmology. Prior to joining Regeneron, Dr. Hassan served as a Clinical Pharmacology Reviewer at the FDA and, as an Assistant Professor and Director of the Pharmacokinetics and Biopharmaceutics Lab at UMSOP where his research was supported by multimillion grants from the FDA, NIH and UMB. He mentored >30 individuals and served on PhD thesis committees of 15 students. He co-authored 50 research articles, a book chapter, 100 abstracts and delivered 30 invited talks. In recognition of his contributions, Dr. Hassan received several awards from the FDA, AAPS and UMB, and was featured in the CPT journal, Bioanalysis Journal and AAPS News magazine. Dr. Hassan is the upcoming Vice-Chair of the ASCPT TPM network and is currently the Chair of the ASCPT Drug Utilization and Outcomes Community and a member of the steering committee of the Biologics community. He previously served as a member of the ASCPT Scientific Programming Committee, Infectious Diseases Community and as a co-Chair of the Hot-Topics Initiative. Dr. Hassan is a fellow of the ACCP, a member of the ACCP Inclusivity, Diversity & Equity committee and a member of the Credentials Committee. Previously, he served on the ACCP Education and Policy committees. He is a registered pharmacist in the State of Maryland and a registered controlled dangerous substances researcher. He received a doctorate degree in clinical pharmacology, post-doctoral training and a Master’s degree in pharmacometrics from UMB, and a Pharmacy Degree from Helwan University, Egypt.
