Join AMCHP’s Global Health Workgroup for a film screening and discussion. During the session, participants will watch Amá a 2018 documentary that focuses on reproductive justice and the enduring legacy of systematic abuses and human rights violations experienced by Native American women and their families in the 1960’s and ‘70s as told through the testimonies and activism of three women: Jean Whitehorse, Yvonne Swan and Charon Asetoyer. Through a guided discussion, participants will reflect on and examine their own knowledge of issues explored in the film, draw connections to current events, as well as consider ways to promote reproductive justice and reparations in their own communities.
Unable to participate in this session but want to get plugged into additional global health activities at AMCHP? Join us on June 8th at 3 pm EST for a Global Health Webinar, Amplifying Birthworker Models of Care: Focusing on the Growing Maternal Mortality Crisis. In this webinar, speakers will explore global and local birthworker models of care and share ways we can adapt these models within our local contexts. Register for this webinar here.
