Nerve blocks have minimal complications and can be easily performed with appropriate knowledge and training. This lecture includes an introduction of the anatomy of both femoral/sciatic and radius, ulnar, median, and musculocutaneous (RUMM) nerve block(s). It covers the techniques used to perform these two nerve blocks. Both blocks are straight forward and can greatly enhance multi-modal anesthesia, produce smoother recoveries, offer decreased post operative opioid consumption, and lessen hospital stay time. Medications used in these blocks are discussed.
