In this panel discussion, small animal internists with expertise in fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) will share their experience and discuss the current state of research in this area as well as future potential applications. Protocols for fecal donor selection, preparation, and administration of FMT, including transplants of fresh feces, frozen samples, and lyophilized feces, will be discussed by the panel. We hope that this session will provide a platform from which we will be able to provide broad-based advice about FMT to small animal internists.

List indications for FMT based on current evidence in dogs and cats.
Prepare a protocol for fecal donor selection.
Name various methods for preparations of fecal samples and their advantages/disadvantages.
Identify potential future applications of FMT.
