He completed an internship (UGA, 1988) and residency (UCD, 1990) after which he completed a graduate program studying the metabolism of drugs by the lung (UCD, 1996). He also spent 5 years as an assistant professor at the University of Missouri (1998-2003) before taking his position as a faculty at The Ohio State University (2003-present).
