Mary Beth Spitznagel, PhD completed her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Ohio University and fellowship at Brown University. Specializing in neuropsychology, she began researching caregiver burden in human medicine. After caring for her dog with cancer, she started a research line examining caregiver burden in pet owners, and how this impacts veterinarian stress. She has published >150 peer-reviewed scientific papers including in top tier veterinary journals. She is Associate Professor in Psychological Sciences at Kent State University and a Fellow of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholars Program.
