An interactive lunch-time discussion on antimicrobial stewardship in clinical practice will follow a brief overview of the problem of antimicrobial resistance in small animals and steps all practioners can take to help prevent these tough to treat infections.

Learning Objectives:

Learners will understand the veterinarian's role in the development and prevention of antimicrobial resistance in companion animals.
Learners will understand what antimicrobial stewardship is (and what it isn't), using the AVMA's Core Principles of Antimicrobial Stewardship as a guide.
Learner will come away with easy ways to incorporate core principles of antimicrobial stewardship into practice.
