Multiple sclerosis is a neurological disease, often diagnosed early adulthood. Sensorial, cognitive, and motor impairments are common and associated with decreased quality of life. In this symposium about rehabilitation, we will discuss new and innovative ways to rehabilitate cognitive and motor functions. Dr. Chiaravalloti will review recent studies which shows that cognitive rehabilitation is effective in ameliorating cognitive functions and activities of daily living. Dr. Wender will present evidence on exercise effects on fatigue, cognition, anxiety, depression, sleep quality, and pain outcomes in persons with MS across the disability spectrum. Then, Dr. Sosnoff will report on a recently virtual-reality based RCT focusing on dual-task performance to improve functional ambulation. Finally, Dr. Siengsukon will present the results of a systematic review conducted by Multiple Sclerosis Task Force members to determine effective behavioral interventions to improve sleep in people with MS.
