Interdisciplinary Rehabilitation Interventions for the Burn Survivor

This symposium will provide evidence-based rehabilitation interventions for the burn survivor in post-acute care. Evidence-based clinical practice guidelines for burn rehabilitation will be discussed. Additional burn rehabilitation concepts such as utilization of cutaneous functional unit paradigm for evaluation and treatment, implementation of positioning protocols, serial casting and orthotic fabrication and management will be disseminated. Development of burn care plans and therapeutic goals will be included. An interdisciplinary care plan and treatment approach will be emphasized. Burn rehabilitation expert faculty will also address avenues for patient and family burn education, long term recovery and support resources. This symposium is appropriate for the novice and intermediate clinician. Clinical practice skills disseminated in this symposium will be applicable for physical, occupational, and speech language therapists.
