Katie received her degree in Occupational Therapy in 2000 from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She started her Occupational Therapy career at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston, MA where she was introduced to burn rehabilitation. During her time at Spaulding, Katie obtained her Masters of Science with a concentration in Occupational Therapy, as well as, a post-professional certificate in Hand and Upper Extremity Rehabilitation from Tufts University. After 5 years in the rehabilitative setting, Katie’s career took her to Shriners Hospitals for Children where she worked for 10 years in the acute, rehabilitative and outpatient burn care settings. She has been involved in multiple international outreach missions for burn care, presented at many conferences including the American Burn Association Annual Meeting and European Club for Pediatric Burns, has lectured at various New England Universities on burn rehabilitation and runs a Department of Defense grant on the use of a Fractionated C02 laser. Currently, Katie is a OT in the Outpatient Hand Department at Massachusetts General Hospital.
