Kathryn A. (Coxe) Hyzak is a Ph.D. Candidate in the College of Social Work at The Ohio State University. Kathryn's research focuses on: (1) implementation of evidence-based practices and policies (EBPs) for individuals living with complex, comorbid physical and psychiatric health conditions, with an emphasis on traumatic brain injury (TBI) and behavioral health; (2) applying implementation and dissemination science to improve healthcare access and equity through physical and mental healthcare integration; and (3) theory-driven, mixed-methods approaches to understanding determinants and mechanisms affecting the adoption, reach, fidelity, and scalability of EBPs. Kathryn received funding through the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke of the National Institutes of Health (F31-NS124263-01) for her dissertation entitled, “Implementation of Traumatic Brain Injury Screening in Behavioral Healthcare Organizations.” This two-year, explanatory sequential mixed methods study uses primary, prospective data collection methods and advanced analytical techniques to examine theory-driven mechanisms affecting the early adoption of traumatic brain injury (TBI) screening in behavioral health settings.
