Christina Papadimitriou is Associate Professor at Oakland University, School of Health Sciences. Christina received her Ph.D. from Boston University, Department of Sociology (2000) and her post-doctoral training from Northwestern University, Institute of Healthcare Studies (2009) and the Sherly Ryan Ability Lab, Center for Rehabilitation Outcomes Research. Christina uses an equity-based hermeneutic approach to make invisible positions and experiences visible in order to develop inclusive and collaborative rehabilitation practices and assessments that can lead to greater shared benefits for those we serve. Currently, she studies peer health navigation to improve health and healthcare outcomes for persons with physical disabilities in the USA, and relationship-centered assessment for persons in disorders of consciousness due to brain injury. She collaborates with investigators from a variety of disciplines, including care partners, and across North America, Europe, and New Zealand. Christina’s research has been funded by NIDILRR, RWJF, and the VA. Christina enjoys mentoring students and early career investigators, is a Board member of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine and Take Root dance company, and teaches in health sciences programs.
