IC26: There's Always a Bigger Fish: Taking a Systems Approach to Person Centered Rehabilitation

Despite the widespread appeal and acceptance of person-centered rehabilitation (PCR) in rehabilitation, barriers still exist that prevent PCR from being integrated into all systems within rehabilitation organizations. This hands on, active workshop will include a dialogue that explores: • Current tenets of PCR and positive trends and challenges to its implementation. • How PCR is currently used in the field of rehabilitation. • What brands of PCR exist at healthcare organizations. • How CARF standards can be leveraged to enhance system-wide PCR adoption. • How a PCR translator can be used to convert specific PCR practices into system-wide efforts. These PCR principles will be gathered into a compendium that attendees can use to: 1. Reflect on current practices within their organization to determine the level of person-centeredness in their operational and clinical environments. 2. Expand the systemic adoption and integration of PCR efforts throughout their organization.
