Dr. Awad is founding director of Boston University’s Neuromotor Recovery Laboratory—which is a cross-disciplinary research group that works to develop, study, and clinically translate neurorehabilitation therapies and technologies. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Boston University, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Awad is also a faculty member in the Center for Neurophotonics, located in Boston University’s Department of Biomedical Engineering. He is a member of the research faculty at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, is a founding core faculty member of the Harvard MOVE Lab, and is an Associate in the Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard University and the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Awad has also served as Associate Editor for the Journal of NeuroEngineering and Rehabilitation since 2015 and the IEEE Open Journal of Engineering in Medicine and Biology since 2020. He currently also serves as a member of the Stroke Rehabilitation Scientific Advisory Boards for ReWalk Robotics and MedRhythms, and is the Chief Scientific Advisor for MedRhythms.
