Peter Thomas is Managing Partner at the Powers Law Firm in Washington, DC. He focuses his practice on legislative, regulatory, and legal health care advocacy on behalf of patients with injuries, illnesses, disabilities and chronic conditions, and the providers who serve them. Mr. Thomas has served as general counsel to the National Association for the Advancement of Orthotics and Prosthetics (NAAOP) since 1994 and as counsel to an orthotic and prosthetic provider coalition known as the Orthotic and Prosthetic Alliance since 2008. He also serves as Washington counsel to the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine. Mr. Thomas Served as a founding advisory board member to the (NCMRR), an advisory board member to the agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (ARC), and served on the President’s Commission on Consumer Protection and Quality in the Health Care Industry. Mr. Thomas currently serves on the National Quality Forum’s Patient Experience and Function Committee, and as a co-principal investigator on a contract with the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). Mr. Thomas has used prosthetic limbs since age 10 and is a member of the ACRM Limb Restoration Rehabilitation Networking Group.
