This presentation will give a brief insight into virtual reality applications in healthcare and a deeper understanding of its uses in neurological rehabilitation for cognitive and physical therapy. Topics of the course will include: leveraging neuroplasticity of the brain with immersive 3D environments with precise control over the stimulus and the cognitive load that the user experiences, how programming functional goals into VR therapy exercises increases patient engagement, show patient progress to aid in recovery with quantitative data, and the overall efficiency of utilizing VR during therapy.
