The aim of this symposium is to present key scientific evidence on exercise-induced effects on brain and functional ability to restore quality of life in individuals with Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and Huntington's disease, dementia and multiple sclerosis and to bring such insights into the clinical context of rehabilitation for people living with neurodegenerative conditions. The presenters will discuss exercise, therapy and neuroplasticity in the context of 1) the importance of music therapy research or fine motor skills in Parkinson's and Huntington's disease; 2) strategies to exploit the interpersonal and motor learning strengths of individuals with dementia in the rehabilitation environment, 3) and the role of high intensity interval exercise with a cycle ergometer on cognition and on motor rehabilitation in multiple sclerosis. In addition, 4) presenters will provide examples of their ongoing laboratory-based and clinical practice-based research.

describe the characteristics of exercise in improving the quality of life among individuals living with vascular dementia.
List the benefits of neurologic music therapy and training in Huntington's and Parkinson's disease
