Neuromodulation is an emerging therapeutic area for the motor and non-motor symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. The aim of this symposium is to advance knowledge on the advantages and disadvantages of DBS and rTMS for the treatment of the motor and non-motor symptoms in Parkinson’s disease. We will also discuss ongoing trials on effects of physical therapy plus DBS and the role of physical, cognitive, and psychiatric rehabilitation on outcomes and quality of life for DBS and rTMS.

discuss DBS and rTMS for the treatment of PD and the role of rehabilitation in post-procedure treatment planning.
describe the advantages and disadvantages of DBS on motor, cognition, speech, and psychiatric features in PD.
discuss ongoing research on the use of exercise as a physiologic tool before and after deep brain stimulation in Parkinson disease.
discuss the utility of rTMS for treatment of PD motor and non-motor symptoms when combined with physical, cognitive, and psychiatric rehabilitation.
