Prior to joining the scientific team at AMPEL Biosolutions, Dr. Owen completed both her doctoral and post-doctoral studies at the University of Virginia in the Department of Immunology, Microbiology and Cancer. AMPEL is a small biotech based in Charlottesville, VA that uses innovative computational approaches to take advantage of “Big Data,” often revealing important information about complex diseases. Dr. Owen’s work with AMPEL has built upon over 15 years of experience studying inflammation in various biological contexts and is currently focused on examining the genetic factors influencing autoimmune and chronic inflammatory diseases such as lupus.The wealth of publicly available multi-omics data coupled with novel statistical and computational analytic tools has allowed her AMPEL team to delineate specific patient endotypes and enable a precision medicine approach to treatment.
