Jill Poole, MD is a Professor of Medicine and Division Chief Allergy in the Division at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha, Nebraska. She has an active laboratory focused on understanding occupational/environmental-induced lung and autoimmune disease with federal grant funding since 2007. Her current funding by the Department of Defense and NIOSH includes studies to understand the dynamic interplay of systemic autoimmunity in setting of environmental lung disease as well as investigating novel approaches to hasten resolution of environmental-associated lung disease. To highlight some of her services, she has served as a grant reviewer for the NIH, special issue editor for the International Immunopharmacology journal on Asthma Immunopathogenesis, serves on Editorial Board for the Journal of Asthma, and executive board of the Environmental and Respiratory Disease committee for the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. She has received the Basic Science Investigator Award Winner and Distinguished Scientist at UNMC. She has been the recipient of the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Young Faculty Research Award and awarded two honorary plenary lecture awards. She has been recognized as Best Doctor in America Award since 2009 as well as several local teaching awards.
