The reciprocal relationship between hearing loss and cognition is supported by scientific evidence, yet cognition is not routinely assessed as part of a standard audiologic workup. This session will review key research and explore how cognitive screening can help clinicians better understand and address hearing deficits to improve patient outcomes and expectations.
Learning Objectives:
Discuss key research supporting the inter-relationship between hearing and cognition.
Describe the correlation between cognitive screening performance and other auditory measures such as SIN.
Identify areas to apply cognitive screening information to enhance individualized care planning.
