College of Central Florida
Catherine McDonough graduated from the University of Central Florida with an MSN Ed in 1985. She is currently a professor of nursing at the College of Central Florida. Catherine has spent the last 10 years in nursing education. Working with entry-level nursing students made Catherine aware of the significant barriers to success they face while progressing through the nursing program. Using the test review meeting to connect with students has provided her with great insight into strategies to help them overcome these barriers. Catherine received a Constellation Award in 2016 for a team project designing an entry-level simulation promoting safety and communication. She is a co-recipient of the Dorothea G. Jerome Endowed Chair in 2018 for a project supporting student success. She presented a poster at the 2019 OADN National Convention. Catherine also acts as a faculty advisor for the Student Nurses Association chapter at the College of Central Florida.
