(1019) A Quality Improvement Project to Reduce Human Milk Administration Error Risk in the NICU

Neonatal Intensive Care Units have undergone a revolution in the use of human milk. Extensive research has proven the benefits of human milk, making it the golden standard for neonatal nutrition. In an effort to provide the highest-quality care and reduce hospital costs related to administration errors, human milk administration must ensure safe-standardized processes are in place. Integration of an electronic human milk handling system, a dedicated milk technician, and standardized centralized nourishment room set-up are key strategies to decrease human milk administration error risks in the NICU.
