Grecia has ten years of experience in neonatal nursing. Grecia earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Miami Dade College, currently she is enrolled in the Master’s Program with a specialization in Nursing Education at Capella University. She is a Certified Lactation Consultant, a Certified Breastfeeding Counselor, a Certified Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse. Grecia currently works in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Nicklaus Children's Hospital (NCH). She started as a bedside RN and as a Lactation Specialist for the past six years. In this role, she facilitates the Lactation Program at NCH. Some of her lactation work has been shared in the segment “Ayudando a la Comunidad” from Radio Caracol during August 2016, to discuss lactation benefits from Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. Other work has been published in the Medela's Human Milk Insights, Clinical Pearls in Lactation section for the December 2017 issue. She was a guest speaker at the Big City Moms Conference at Hilton Hotel during December 2017. She was a recipient of the Florida Breastfeeding Friendly Employer Award Gold Level from The Florida Breastfeeding Coalition in May 2017. Her poster Integrating Lactation Support to Improve Provision of Mother’s Own Milk in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit was presented at The Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine in November 2018, in the Healthy Children Project Conference in January 2019, in the Southeast Florida Association of Neonatal Nurses (SEFANN) Conference in March 2019, and In-house at the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital 11th Annual Scholarship Day in June 2019. Grecia facilitates the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Lactation Support group at Nicklaus Children’s hospital, provides much staff education, update policies, and provide mothers with lactation support, all of which require evidence-based practices to improve quality care.
