Marissa L. Johnson, MSN, RN, CNL, RNC-LRN is working as a Clinical Practice Leader at The University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital neonatal intensive care unit which is a level 4 NICU. In her role she specializes as the developmental care coordinator and staff educator for neuroprotective care. She has been working on updating practice and standards of practice to improve the neuroprotective interventions that align with the most current evidence based practice. Over the past years her focus had included family partnership, infant feeding, neuroprotective interventions, supporting painful interactions and skin-to-skin practices. When Marissa is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 daughters (Kennady (12) and Adley (9), attending sporting events, boating in the summer, and reading. Her favorite part of her developmental care role is helping parents and infants get skin-to-skin for the first time!
