In an emergency setting, we rely on our clinical acumen to guide us in recognizing and treating diseases based on patterns and past experience. In this two part series, we will use a case based discussion to walk through various presentations of respiratory distress in the dog and cat, discuss key clinical and historical features that contribute to these patterns, and apply readily available diagnostics, such as point of care ultrasound, to differentiate, diagnose, monitor and treat the emergent respiratory patient. Attendees should leave more confident and less stressed about respiratory distress.
