This lecture will review the principles of intoxication management, including decontamination techniques. We will discuss some of the most common toxicities encountered in the emergency room, their management and treatment, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, chocolate, marijuana, amongst others.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion, participant will be able to recall the main principles of managing an intoxication.
Upon completion, participant will have gained the basic tools to manage any intoxication, learning the importance of the pharmacokinetics of different toxins.
Upon completion, participant will be able to learn about the decontamination, diagnostics and treatment of some of the most common intoxications seen in ER.
