This presentation will cover the basics of tick biology and identification, with a review on the expansion of tick species to new areas of the United States. Novel tick species within the US, relevant pathogen potential for the primary ticks of small animal veterinary importance, diagnostic strategies for tick-borne pathogens, and up-to-date information on the treatment and control of ticks and tick-borne diseases will also be addressed.
