The history and physical exam provide vital information that helps guide our recommendations for our next diagnostic steps. Clients may or may not know to share some information that could change the course of our recommendations, so it is up to the veterinary team to make sure to ask the right questions. In this session, we will discuss important aspects of the history and physical exam for patients with cough, nasal discharge, respiratory "noises" and respiratory distress among others.
Learning Objectives:
Learn specific questions to ask owners of dogs and cats presenting for some of the most common respiratory presenting complaints
Understand how some physical exam findings can help localize the source of the problem within the respiratory tract
Narrow down differential lists of patients presenting with respiratory signs based on the history and physical exam findings
