Mycoplasma bovis has been around for decades, but in recent years the agent has received increasing attention as a cause of bovine respiratory disease that responds poorly to treatment. Problems with treatment, and the historically inconsistent response to vaccination, makes it difficult for veterinarians to recommend useful options to producers with cattle affected by Mycoplasma bovis. This presentation will summarize current information regarding disease due to this agent, and the prospects for vaccination to control disease.
Learning Objectives:
Recognize clinical syndromes associated with Mycoplasma bovis infection of cattle
Recognize antimicrobials that can be effective for treatment of Mycoplasma bovis
Describe what Mycoplasma bovis vaccination trials have found regarding Mycoplasma bovis vaccine efficacy
