This session explores some common practices clinicians might want to reconsider in the light of available scientific evidence. A strategy for making evidence-based decisions about adopting new practices or abandoning old ones is also introduced.

Learning Objectives:

Develop an evidence-based strategy for deciding when to adopt new tests and treatments and when to abandon old ones
Identify common clinical practices that should be reconsidered in light of current scientific evidence
Understand the importance for patient welfare of regular reassessment of clinical practices as evidence new evidence is developed
