Hematology in action for your patients focused on the most prevalent, clinically important findings and disease states. Example and case based approach using dry-wet lab technology to allow each individual to navigate and interact with a curated set of sick patient samples. Focused growing foundations in hematology findings in the most common clinical presentation and disease states to best prepare the veterinary professional in making rapid, appropriate and well informed medical decisions for cats and dogs involving hematology.

Transportation: Complimentary shuttle service is provided to and from the Oquendo Center for all hands-on labs. The pickup area is located at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center entrance. Buses depart promptly 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time of the course.

Dress Code: Please dress comfortably. Scrubs are recommended, additional scrubs are available for use at the Oquendo Center, if needed. Closed-toe shoes are required.

Learning Objectives:

Recall key fundamentals for hematology pre-learning: Purpose of hematology in practice, components of hematology. (Erythrogram, Leukogram, Coagulation)
Identify normal & abnormal red blood cell, white blood cell, and platelet morphology in dogs and cats using cytograms and blood cell morphology
Introduce anemia (regenerative versus non-regenerative), thrombocytopenia connected to common clinical presentations
Determine the major components of inflammation & infection impact on white cell morphology and most important common clinical presentations and interpretations.
