Dr. Yiew is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care and an Assistant Professor in Clinical Studies at the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph, Canada. She obtained her DVM degree from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2013 and worked at the affiliated University Veterinary Hospital for 2.5 years. She then completed a 3-year residency training and doctoral graduate program in Emergency & Critical Care at the Ontario Veterinary College. Following a brief stint as a postdoctoral fellow, she became a faculty member in 2020. Yiew is drawn to the field of Emergency & Critical Care as she enjoys the adrenaline rush, constantly being on her toes, and the variety of clinical cases or emergency procedures that keeps her career colorful and exciting. In addition to clinical practice, Yiew has always enjoyed teaching and participating in Continuing Education. She is interested in fluid stewardship, point-of-care ultrasonography, SIRS/sepsis/MODS, and renal failure with extracorporeal therapies.
