Dr. Sarah Hamer is a Professor of Epidemiology in the School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M University. She runs a research lab focused on the ecology and epidemiology of diseases that emerge at the human-wildlife-domestic animal interface. Her MS is from University of Illinois, and her PhD and DVM degrees are from Michigan State University. She is a Diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine and is also board-certified in Epidemiology. She leads several research initiatives, including ecological interventions to break the cycle of Chagas disease transmission, citizen science approaches for vector-borne disease management, and studies of pet and wildlife transmission of SARS-CoV- She was based at Universidad del Valle de Guatemala in summer 2022 as a Fulbright US Scholar.
