James Barclay, Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG), is currently an Animal Health Technician with the Department of Defense (DOD), Department of the Army, at the LTC Daniel E. Holland Military Working Dog Hospital on Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. From 1989 to 2015, he spent the first 26 years of his veterinary technician life in the United States Army in various clinical and research positions. In 2015, after retiring from active military service, he worked for two years for the USDA in Texas, mainly working with tuberculosis programs in the far northwest panhandle and also with the Cattle Fever Tick Eradication Program on the border with Mexico. 2017 to early 2019 were spent in sunny Baghdad, Iraq working at the U.S. Embassy for the Department of State providing veterinary care for the explosive detection canines protecting the International Zone before returning home to the DOD at Lackland Air Force Base.
