Mary Beth Spitznagel, PhD completed her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Ohio University and fellowship at Brown University. Specializing in neuropsychology, she began researching caregiver burden in families of dementia patients. After caring for her dog with cancer, she started a research line examining caregiver burden in pet owners, and how this impacts veterinarian stress. She has published more than 150 peer-reviewed scientific papers in top tier journals including JAVMA, Veterinary Journal, and Veterinary Record. She is Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences at Kent State University and a Fellow of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholars national leadership program.
