Veterinarians play a key role in One Health. Vectors and the diseases they transmit have become increasingly prevalent with the geographic distribution of both tick vectors and the pathogens they transmit expanding. Our canine patients can serve as sentinels for tick borne disease in our communities. Recent advancements in vector-borne disease screening have uncovered new data showing a correlation between canine seroprevalence and human incidence of anaplasmosis.
