Laboratory interpretation and a basic approach to the work up a case with abnormal liver enzymes will be presented. The diagnostic tests required to confirm liver disease will be presented. Bile acids, ultrasound and liver aspiration will be discussed. Guidelines will be presented on when to perform a liver biopsy and how to interpret the results. Case examples will be used.

The participant will understand why specific liver enzymes increase.
