In this session participants will explore practical ways to activate the role of ally. Participants will learn how increasing our capacity for self-reflection and developing a greater awareness of differing perspectives and our own knowledge gaps, provide an essential foundation for acknowledging and leveraging one's position, power, and privilege. Following the session, participants will be able to define allyship, describe types of allies, explain the process of moving from bystander to ally, differentiate between performative and authentic allyship, describe barriers to allyship, and identity one authentic ally action step to take as a starting point.
