The degu (Octodon degus) is a rodent belonging to the same Suborder as the guinea pig and chinchilla. Degus are social, long-lived, and have a low incidence of disease, which is why they make outstanding pets. This lecture will cover the natural history, anatomy, physiology, diet and husbandry of the degu, as well as examination, restraint, and common diseases.
