Specialty Veterinary Technician Session: Refeeding Syndrome is a rare but potentially deadly effect of feeding in critical patients. It’s also a critical care nerd paradise requiring the team to have a solid understanding of electrolytes and their effect on the body, catabolic vs anabolic changes in the body, and requires close monitoring and nursing care. This lecture will follow a cat with refeeding syndrome throughout his illness in the ICU.

Summarize the causes and clinical signs of hepatic lipidosis in cats
Anticipate the electrolyte and mineral changes that occur with refeeding syndrome
Perform the necessary critical care nursing skills on refeeding syndrome patients
