Dr. Casey Carl, DVM, is a Veterinary Geneticist at Embark Veterinary and a 2008 graduate of the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine. As a clinician in his early career, Dr. Carl found himself frustrated by inherited diseases and the challenges they posed for veterinary practitioners and dog lovers. As a result, he shifted career paths and began his journey into the canine genetics industry in 2013. Since then, Dr. Carl has worked closely with breed clubs, veterinarians, and pet owners in a genetic counseling role and as an educator about the utility of genetic disease testing in improving canine health. He has published over 150 blogs and magazine articles on the topic of canine genetics and is a contributing author to multiple peer-reviewed publications. He has also been a recurring featured guest on the 'Good Dog Pod' Podcast. Dr. Carl has significant interest and experience in applying genetic test results to clinical veterinary practice, breeding, and pet ownership. He is driven to prevent unnecessary canine suffering and improve the clinical outcomes of dogs affected by inherited diseases.
