Mike Murphy, DVM, JD, PhD

Mike Murphy DVM, JD, PhD is the Director of the Division of Animal and Public Health at AVMA. Mike was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, received his BS, DVM, and PhD degrees from Texas A&M University, and his JD from William Mitchell College of Law in Minnesota. He is a professor emeritus of the University of Minnesota, where he taught veterinary and graduate students and conducted diagnostic veterinary medicine and toxicology-oriented research for 22 years before joining the FDA. After 10 years with the Center for Veterinary Medicine at FDA, Mike now works at the AVMA as Director of the Division of Animal and Public Health.
