Dr. Calvin Booker manages the Animal Health services and research activities at TELUS Agriculture & Consumer Goods, a role he previously held at Feedlot Health Management Services. Acquired by TELUS in 2020, it has extensive research capabilities, and provides comprehensive veterinary and production consulting services, computerized individual animal data collection systems as well as management/execution tools to feedlot and calf grower operations in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Brazil, and Kazakhstan. Dr. Booker joined the Feedlot Health team in 1992, acting as an epidemiologist, data analyst and production consultant, after a two-year collaboration on research efforts. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) in 1989 and his Master of Veterinary Science (M.Vet.Sc.) in 1992 from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Having completed an internship at the Ambulatory Clinic of Cornell University’s New York State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990, Dr. Booker went on to do his residency two years later at the Field Service Clinic, Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. His work has been recognized by the American Association of Bovine Practitioners with the 2006 Merial Preventive Medicine Award – Beef, and by the Academy of Veterinary Consultants with the 2010 Consultant of the Year Award. An Affiliate Faculty Member in the Department of Clinical Sciences at Colorado State University, Dr. Booker is also an Adjunct Professor in the Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and VERO at Texas A&M University. He served in executive positions at the American Association of Bovine Practitioners between 2017 and 2021.
