Arizona Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Centre (AVECCC)
Dr. Tereza Stastny was born in the Czech Republic and grew up in Calgary, AB, Canada. She attended the University of Notre Dame on an athletic (soccer) and academic scholarship obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree in Premedical Sciences. She attended the University of Calgary earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Dr. Stastny completed a rotating internship at Texas A&M University and completed an emergency and critical care residency at Michigan State University.
Dr. Stastny has a keen interest in respiratory physiology and mechanical ventilation, sepsis & SIRS, pharmacology, cardiac emergencies, acute kidney injuries, veterinary point-of-care ultrasound, and acid-base disturbances. She also has a strong interest in hemodialysis.
Dr. Stastny is passionate about teaching and lecturing and has been recognized for her talents earning the Small Animal Teaching Award as an intern at Texas A & M, being elected for a leadership award as a resident, and lecturing at IVECCs as well as other conferences yearly. She is currently the intern director at Arizona Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Centre (AVECCC) and is heavily involved in AVECCC's residency training program
Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Stastny enjoys trail running, traveling, hiking, and coaching youth soccer.
